Functional Taping

Functional taping involves the reinforcement, compensation or substitution of a musculoskeletal or capsular ligament structure which has suffered or is susceptible to damage.

Functional taping can be used for two purposes:

Therapeutic Functional Taping:
After a ligament strain or a muscle micro-tear it is wise to selectively reduce the ability of the anatomical structure affected. To achieve this we use a combination of elastic and inextensible bandages, with more or less flexibility, depending on what we need in order to treat the injury.

Preventative Functional Taping:
This type of taping is strictly related to the sports world, where twists, changes in rhythm, impacts, etc., are commonplace and where certain joints are put under more pressure and can be more sensitive to certain kinds of injury. By using this taping method we reinforce these joints and as a result, avoid possible injury.
